
This website is part of a research project initiated in 2011 to document and extend indigenous architecture and building practices in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is a collaborative research project initiated between researchers based in CRIDA in the Faculty of Architecture, Building & Planning, The University of Melbourne, Australia, and in DICRC in the Faculty of Design, CEPT University, Ahmedabad, India.
The long term goals of the project are to explore:
- methodologies and technologies to record and document existing buildings and settlements
- methodologies to assess performance and sustainability of buildings and settlements at various scales
- strategies to resuscitate indigenous building techniques / practices including crafts
- implementation of a demonstrator project
The project is supported in part by the Australia India Institute based at the University of Melbourne.
